I love photographing couples who are smitten with each other. The kind that smile when they hear their partner’s name and give each other a little shoulder nudge when they’re beside them. You can see it in the way they look at each other and by they way they talk about each other. There’s a sense of pride they have to be with the one they love. That’s what Laura and Joey are like. In the eleven years they’ve been together they’ve shared dreams, owned a business together and now they’re on to the next chapter of their lives and getting married.
A spring engagement session can have unpredictable weather. While no one wants rain on their wedding day or during their engagement session it can make for some creative engagement photos. It was raining on the day of Laura and Joey’s engagement session so we decided to take their engagement photos indoors. I like getting to know my couples so I often ask them what they love to do together and where do they like to go out. Every couple has their go-to restaurant. For Laura and Joey it was the The School of Fine Dining. It seemed fitting they brought me to one of their favourite places for their spring engagement photos. The restaurant was closed for the afternoon so we had the place all to ourselves. The dark walls added a touch of drama and the grey skies outside brought in the softest light through the windows. It was perfect! I tucked them into a hidden corner of the restaurant, got them to get all snuggly together and stepped back to watch magic unfold. Man oh man, did these two sizzle! Take a look for yourselves.
