All it took were a few photos on Facebook to convince Imaad that he had to meet Sakeena. They had a mutual friend so he coaxed and coaxed her until she finally agreed to bring Sakeena to his birthday party. It was there that they met for the first time. Nothing special happened that night, but they agreed to keep in touch. They chatted with each other over messenger, but Sakeena wasn’t as convinced there was a spark between them. In an attempt to capture her attention Imaad said “one day I will marry you”. Her reaction? “Eww… gross” but something about what he said must have resonated.
Fast forward four years later, Imaad reach out to me to capture his surprise proposal in Toronto. He wanted his proposal to be special, but also as relaxed and carefree as the two of them. As a Toronto proposal photographer, I love hearing real love stories like theirs. It had me believing in love at first sight.
On the day of the proposal, Imaad and Sakeena hung out and had lunch on the island. I timed things with Imaad so that I would sneakly hid behind a tree just as they walked up to the beach with the skyline of the city infront of them. Just as they walked up Imaad put his arm around Sakeena and said a few thought words before getting down on one knee and popping the question. She was so surprised! I gave them a few minutes together before I introduced myself. Afterwards, we walked around the island to do some engagement photos. They told me they wanted to go somewhere away from prying eyes so I found a few hidden spots for them to play and be cozy. Sakeena and Imaad were so relaxed with each other. They sang Drake songs and talked how they’d announce their engagement to their friends.
