Your Wedding Day

Hi Friend!

You’ve been on my mind. I’ve been thinking of ways I can support you during this time. As a wedding industry professional, I’m here to help you prepare for your wedding. The best way I can support you now is to continue to be a great wedding resource to you. Below, you’ll find info on rebooking, alternative options, and my policies. This guide will answer your questions. Scroll through, and if you still have questions afterwards please reach out to me.

I'm Here For You

This pandemic has disrupted our lives in many unexpected ways. The original wedding you planned is likely going to have to change. You’re allowed to feel sad. I completely empathize with you. I’m here for you with virtual hugs and a listening ear any time you want to talk. Know that your wedding is my priority. I will do everything I can to guide you while you change your plans.

Rescheduling Your Wedding

If you know you’re going to change your wedding date, send a quick email to me and your other vendors about the upcoming date change. Review your agreements with each vendor and ask them if they have a policy for rescheduling.

Next, you’ll need to consult with your venue to find out what dates are available. I’m happy to share my available dates with you to help find a day that works for everyone.

Dates are available on a first-come first-served basis. With many couples interested in rebooking their weddings, I’m doing my best to accommodate everyone. You can make a request for a particular date, which will later be confirmed with a newly signed agreement. Please email me before rebooking your new wedding date to check my availability.

Please note: If you chose a new wedding date for which I’m not available, you are cancelling my services with you. I’m sorry to see you go, and I’m very disappointed to not be a part of your wedding. By cancelling, you will forfeit your wedding retainer payments. There will be no refunds or replacement shoots.

Your New Wedding Date

When choosing your new wedding date, consider weekdays, Sundays, winter months, or spring months.

Your vendors, a.k.a. wedding team, want to continue working with you to make your wedding special. You chose us and we chose you. Being open-minded about your wedding date is the easiest way to move all your vendors to the new date and keep a small business afloat.

This pandemic will change the social norms of events. A number of my couples have already moved their weddings with this reality in mind. You would be joining many others in having on weekday, Sunday, or winter/spring wedding.

Having photographed a number of weekday and winter weddings myself, I can tell you that they aren’t much different from a summer Saturday wedding. There are always guests who leave early before the dance floor opens; some guests are always going to leave early whether it’s a Tuesday or a Saturday. But there will always be guests who want to cut a rug with you and stay late!

Rebooking For 2021

If you reschedule your wedding for 2021, your remaining balance will be divided in two: One payment will be due on your original 2020 wedding date, and the final payment will be due two weeks before  your new 2021 date. A rebooking fee for 2021 may apply, depending on the date you choose:

    • For 2020, there is no rebooking fee for any dates in 2020.
    • For 2021, there is no rebooking fee for dates from January 1 to April 30; no fee for weekdays and Sundays during high season (May to October); and no fee for November and December.
    • During peak wedding season in 2021 from May 1 to October 31 on Saturdays only, there is a rebooking fee of $900 plus HST.

The reason for this fee is that with 2020 weddings moving over to 2021, there are fewer opportunities for me to book new weddings in 2021 to recover from the income lost in 2020. The rebooking fee will go towards the additional expenses I’ll incur in moving your date to 2021.

This policy is intended to help me continue to provide you with the high level of photography service you’re expecting, and retain the best talented second photographers on my team. The fee will help me sustain my business and team during this difficult time. I understand that you may also have been affected by this pandemic and have some financial strain. Please reach out and I will be more than happy to discuss a payment schedule.

COVID Weddings

During the time it is government mandated that we self-quarantine and restrict group interactions, I will not be photographing weddings. Photography is not considered an essential service, and therefore I cannot work in this capacity. More importantly, I value your health and mine and that of our community. Many vendors like me will not be providing their services in an effort to stop the spread of this devastating virus. If you’re contemplating going ahead with a wedding during this precarious period, please consider waiting for a safer time to get married.

Engagement Session

If you’ve purchased an engagement session with your collection, we can reschedule your session when it is safe, or alternatively you can add the 90 minutes to your wedding photography coverage instead. The additional time will be covered by me and does not include a second photographer.

Cancelling Your Wedding

Not planning on rescheduling your wedding? I’m sorry to hear you’re cancelling your wedding. By cancelling, you will forfeit your wedding retainer payments. There will be no refunds or replacement shoots.

Elopements

Elopements and short-coverage events are typically photographed on the weekdays. Fridays and weekends are reserved for full-day weddings.

This year in 2020 the hours used for an elopement will come out of your current wedding package. There is no additional fee to switch from a wedding to an elopement package. Elopements are $600 per hour with a minimum two hour booking.

During peak wedding season from May 1 to October 31, 2021 on a Friday, Saturday, or Sunday, a rebooking fee of $900 plus HST will apply.

If you are booking a short-coverage wedding you can use your retainer for  photography coverage by the hour or towards a new wedding package.

All retainers must be used by Dec 31, 2021.

We Are In This Together

Hang in there! Better days are ahead.

When this is over, people will want to come together. Your wedding will be the light at the end of a dark tunnel. Visualize all the smiles you’ll see and people mingling, dancing, and hugging. Think of the love and joy you’ll feel, celebrating our health and your union together.

Reach out anytime you want to talk.

Conversations will not be cancelled.
Relationships will not be cancelled.
Love will not be cancelled.
Songs will not be cancelled.
Reading will not be cancelled.
Self-care will not be cancelled.
Hope will not be cancelled.

We’re all in this together. Literally the whole planet. We’re one people all connected on this place we all call Home. May we care well for one another. May we live with more grace and compassion than ever before. May we be careful and wise but also honest on the days we feel afraid. May we always always always know that it’s okay to ask for help. And may we lean into the good stuff that remains.
